Upcoming Live-Action Anime Adaptations:

Hi, Everybody! Today I am going to be talking about the Live-Action Anime adaptations that are coming soon. Now, this doesn't mean that I'm looking forward to them! It's exactly the opposite, I do hope that most of these things will suck because Anime is a medium all on its own and should never be touched by Hollywood!

- Death Note 2

Yes, the sequel to one of the worst movies of 2017, and one of the worst live-action anime films ever, is getting a FUCKING SEQUEL!! The annoying little idiot that is Light Turner is coming back and will continue his story. This movie pissed me off beyond belief, why would you do this, Netflix?! Just please, STOP! Anyway, I'd much rather read the manga and rewatch the anime rather than watch this upcoming piece-of-shit movie!

- Your Name

Your Name was an amazing romcom with breathtaking visuals and a complex and captivating story. Just how can Makoto Shinkai's masterpiece can be adapted by someone like J.J. Abrams?! The animation and narrative is going to be soo difficult to adapt in live-action and that you can't possibly just American-ize this story! It would do a grave injustice to its art.

- Attack on Titan

Come on, Warner Bros.! I hate you for ruining Harry Potter for me, and that you've still not fired Amber Heard from Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom, but adapting my favorite anime into Live-Action?! That's a very low blow, even for you! It's baffling that 'It' director Andy Muschietti is directing something that's not made for live-action! How can you make the Colossal Titan and Armored Titan into something realistic?! It's perfect as is! You'd have to have pure talent to replicate the ensemble characters, especially Eren Yeager and Levi Ackerman! While no news has been announced since 2019, I just hope that this film doesn't happen anytime soon.

- My Hero Academia

Sure, Legendary, pick a popular superhero shonen anime as your next film. Go ahead, see how that works out! There's just not much material to adapt into an 1hr and 40 min. movie! You'd have to cover Izuku Midoriya's training arc, then there are the tryouts at UA High and not to mention that you'd have to cover the League of Villains. This film is probably dead on arrival and there's probably no news about it since 2018.

- Yu Yu Hakusho

Out of all the shonen anime that Netflix wants to adapt into a show, they pick this?! Yu Yu Hakusho is an iconic piece of Japanese art that was hopefully never going to be adapted. You can't just possibly American-ize Yusuke and his allies, right?! And not to mention that the fights scenes especially his famous fight with Rando, will be impossible to replicate! And don't even about touching The Dark Tournament, Netflix!

- One-Punch Man

Why, oh, Why has Sony made a decision to tackle One-Punch Man?! It's bad enough that Avi Arad is producing and that Sony are probably going to whitewash Saitama and have it take place in America! Meaning that this live-action film is not going to feel like its incredible monster of an anime! And just how can you adapt Saitama's fight with Boros into live-action?! IT'S JUST NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE! LEAVE SAITAMA ALONE!!

- Made in Abyss

Ok, I just found out about this today and just why?! This is an anime where a child has a robotic arm and that a child was turned into a piece of slime! There's just no way that Made in Abyss can turned into a live-action Hollywood movie. Sony, again, is adapting the manga/anime and has Kevin McMullian as a writer or producer. Dawn of the Deep Soul has only come out! Can't we just have another movie that's not live-action?

- The Promised Neverland

Yep, the dark fantasy anime, The Promised Neverland is being adapted into a Live-Action by Amazon Studios. I don't even know how this can live up to its masterpiece of a first season, but if they can live up its source material, I'll be fine with it. Spider-Verse writer, Rodney Rothman is set to direct the show along with Masi Oka as producer and Roy Lee as executive producer.

- Gundam

Ok, I'm actually excited for this one. While I do hope that it doesn't look like the Live-Action Gundam from 1999. This film is not from Canada this time, but is still co-produced by Sunrise, the OG anime studio that made Mobile Suit Gundam. The movie will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts who previously directed Kong: Skull Island and is set to direct the Metal Gear Solid movie. If Jordan can make King Kong look incredible, let's hope he and Netflix can do the same with the iconic Mecha.

- Cowboy Bebop

Ok, this one I'm very excited for, will it be like the classic anime from '97? Probably not. But John Cho's looking pretty good as Spike! Hopefully, Netflix can knock it out of the park with this TV Show adaptation. MCU writer Christopher Yost is show runner, it's co-produced by Sunrise and is set to release this Fall.

Thank you for reading and don't forget to comment your thoughts down below. Do you think the upcoming Cowboy Bebop show will suck? Are you exciting for Netflix's Live-Action Gundam? Let me know if I've missed any adaptations.
